At sunset on this particular evening, there had been fifty people at the Twelve Apostles viewing platform. But fifteen minutes later, when this photograph was taken, only myself and my assistant remained. I was waiting for the afterglow of the sunset, which is known as the photographers best friend. Most tourists arent even aware of this phenomenon. So with just two of us there, I set my camera for a five minute exposure and caught this wonderfully spectacular light on film. The cliffs and pinnacles were reduced to shadowed silhouettes. As an added blessing, we could see, far below us, countless fairy penguins making their way from the ocean back to their colonies at the base of the cliffs. The people who had left early wouldnt have known what they had missed! How pleased we were that we had stuck around for the days last show.
